Secure Bengal 2021
Secure Bengal 2021 is a programme on secure application coding and cybersecurity in partnership with NASSCOM, consisting of a course and a Mega hackathon Competition for college students. The month-long course to be held in August 2021, comprising 51.5 hours of learning, 13.5 hours of theory and 38 hours of hands-on exercise. The course will be a prerequisite to the hackathon. Colleges across West Bengal can register all students, irrespective of their specialisation.
The event will include:
Application Security – Vulnerability Assessment
Course on “Application Security – Vulnerability Assessment” with self-paced classes and assessments which students can complete as per their convenience.
Live sessions
Live sessions with experts throughout the month for Students and interns.
Hackathon
Hackathon competition at the end of the month. All students who have successfully completed the course (Application Security – Vulnerability assessment) can participate in the Mega hackathon Competition.
Exciting prizes wait for winners & Participants
- Cash prizes of Rs. 50000, Rs. 30000, Rs. 20000 for first three winners of the Capture the Flag, along with trophies.
- Cash prizes to three students from each district who complete the course the earliest – Prizes of Rs. 7500, Rs. 5000, Rs. 2500.
- Trophies to top three colleges with maximum participation.
- All the learners who have successfully completed the course under Secure Bengal-2021 will receive a Co-branded Certificate from NASSCOM FutureSkills Prime, SkillsDA & Cyber Security Centre of Excellence, Government of West Bengal.
Responsibilities of college SPOCs
The SPOC is required to:
- Provide his/her contact details on the excel sheet.(provided)
- Ensure that details captured in the excel sheet for student registration are correct.
- The SPOC or college representative need to mail the excel file with student details to us at –cscoe[at]wb[dot]gov[dot]in
- The SPOCs will also receive a certificate of Appreciation and will be suitably rewarded for their best efforts & contribution.

Can individuals register for the course?
No, Individuals cannot register directly for the course or hackathon. Those who are willing to participate need to request their college SPOCs and Student project coordinators for registering themselves.

Eligibility criteria for students to participate?
All the students are eligible for this hackathon irrespective of their field of specialisation. Participation is not limited to those who are specializing in cybersecurity. Students from different colleges across West Bengal can participate via their college SPOCs and Student Project Coordinators.

Is there a limit on number of students an institution can register?
No, there is no limit on the number.

Is there any registration fee?
No, this programme is absolutely FREE.

How can college SPOCs and Project Coordinators register?
Colleges can register their interested students by filling out the details in the excel sheet uploaded on CS-CoE web portal. SPOCs and PCs can then share the excel template by mailing the same to cscoe[at]wb[dot]gov[dot]in.

What if student already has a Future Skills account?
Students who are having an account on future skills prime, may also participate by registering themselves for this event via their college SPOC or college project coordinators. They need to share the same id with college SPOCs.

It is a month long course, will it not conflict with students academic schedules?
The course is self paced and hence, flexible. Only the weekly expert sessions are live, however these are optional. The Mega hackathon Competition, which will be held at the end of the course, will be scheduled on a weekend.

When does the course start and end?
The course starts from 18th August and ends on 18th September 2021. We will be sharing detailed brochure of course schedule, expert sessions and Mega hackathon Competition with the registered participants soon.

What will students receive after completion of the course?
Co-branded course completion certificates will be provided to those who complete the course. There are also cash prizes for three students from each district who complete the course earliest.

What configuration is required in the laptop/desktop for the course?
Apart from good internet connectivity, any laptop or smart phone is good enough to complete the course.

Is the course trainer led?
The course is self-paced, with multiple videos, diagrams and infographics for each topic. There will be 4 live expert sessions on cyber security which will be held during this month-long event.

Do students need to apply separately for the Mega hackathon Competition?
No, all students who successfully complete the course, will be sent a link by SkillsDa for the challenge.

How long is duration of the course?
The duration of the course includes 51.5 hrs of learning, 13.5 hours of Theory and 38 hours of hands-on exercise. The students who will be completing this course will only be eligible to participate in mega hackathon competition for which date will be announced soon.

When can the students enrol for the course on FutureSkills Prime?
Once the college SPOCs register their students via the excel sheet provided on CS-CoE, WB’s website, our team will get in touch with the students via email and notify them. They will be guided regarding the activation of their FutureSkills account.

How does CS-CoE, WB consider the students’ district while declaring results?
The district of the student is same as the district in which his/her educational institution is located. These details are provided by the institute’s SPOC at time of students registration.

Will the SPOCs also be provided with any recognition certificates ?
The SPOCs will also receive a certificate of Appreciation and will be suitably rewarded for their best efforts & contribution.
